Futures Makerspace Donji Vakuf: Officially Opened

Although we put our Donji Vakuf Futures Makerspace into action in April this year, due to COVID-19, we did not want to risk anything, so we scheduled our official opening for the summer. We are proud to announce that it happened this weekend and we are more than happy that we could finally welcome guests, students, partners and friends into our new Makerspace. The official opening consisted of numerous activities from the opening ceremony, hack my business challenge for students, company visit and an open bbq.

Hack my business

We wanted to create more than just the official ceremony, so we organized a special “business” hackathon as well. Participants competed in offering the best business solution for Book my Hostess startup. The startup’s founder is Adela Kadirić, our ambassador and donor. Adela sponsored the competition and the winners received significant financial rewards; 1500 BAM -1st place, 1000 BAM - 2nd place and 500 BAM - 3rd place.

This was the opportunity to youth of Donji Vakuf to connect with our Foundation, get real business experience, and win some amazing prizes. On the other hand, the event gives the same opportunity to Futures scholars who participated, enabling them to get to know the region and the potential of Donji Vakuf.

Cutting the ribbon

Some rituals never change and cutting the ribbon is one of them. Our board member, Vernisa Rejhan-Ićindić and mayor of Donji Vakuf, Huso Sušić, cut the ribbon and officially opened our second Makerspace. Reminder if you missed by any chance, the first one is in Srebrenica.

So what is the makerspace? This is a place for young people where they can learn about the latest technological innovations and where they can grow as the young leaders of their communities, the new Makerspace is equipped with various tech devices that allow them to apply their knowledge in practice and turn their ideas into reality, by which they are going to develop their community.

Company visit - Eco Sustainable Organic Food ESOF

We are exploring Bosnia and Herzegovina constantly. Always looking for new success stories, for outstanding people and for successful companies. Every story inspires us and assures us that we have millions of reasons to be proud of. In Donji Vakuf we visited Eco Sustainable Organic Food aka ESOF company. The core business of the company is the production, purchase and processing of fruits and vegetables. During the visit they walked us through their standards of production, responsibility in business, integrity and daily tasks.
