High school "Gimnazija 'dr. Mustafa Kamarić'" in Gračanica, hosted the first Outreach Programme Arduino Workshop on Saturday, October 12th, which was organized by our scholars Denis Muratović and Haris Hadžić. They both had the honor to be the lecturers at this workshop and based on the feedback from the students of the workshop - they did a great job! The workshop has been a great start for a big project of our Foundation and its Outreach Team and it is going to provide experience and knowledge to students in a way they, unfortunately, cannot get in their formal education.
Our young leaders are already well known as persons who use each second of their time and every possible chance to inspire the youngsters. One of them is our scholar and volunteer Adna Čosić. Adna is a Mechanical engineering student at the University of Zenica which has a traditional ceremony for welcoming new students at the beginning of each academic year.

On Monday morning scholars from Bosnia & Herzegovina Futures Foundation and LANACO had the pleasure of joining Erik David Johnson for our now traditional “Breakfast & Chat”. Erik is in Banja Luka to present on emerging trends in AI at the TechHosted Conference and with pleasure took up our offer to have breakfast and meet our amazing youth.

Last week, our scholars Milan Kusmuk, Nevena Kisin, Haris Arnautovic, Ali Mokayes, Selma Aličić and Momčilo Amović led by the Foundation founder Eddie Custovic, visited Sweden. They had a unique opportunity to visit Götheborg and Stockholm and enjoy multiple opportunities to present their and Foundation’s work, attend networking events, presentations and visit some great companies such as Google, Spotify, MatchAds, Sigrid Therapeutics, and Softhouse Consulting.
Last week, a historic first Congress of geneticists in Bosnia and Herzegovina was organised, drawing in experts from various fields of biology from all across the globe. We are immensely proud to be partners and sponsors of this historical event. A warm welcome in the Holiday Inn Hotel from the Congress organisers welcomed guests and the spirit of science was palpable in every corner of the lightly lit conference hall.
Common goal of the Bosnia and Herzegovina Futures Foundation and MarketMakers project is to implement mentors program which will include five different cities in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Mentors program is made to demystify IT/STEM industry, to motivate young persons to develop their own skills and also to connect them with potential employers.
As the global population grows, food demand continues to rise. Robotics and artificial intelligence inevitably have to take part in land cultivation to allow farmers to be more efficient and productive when managing crops. Our scholars Emina, Milan, and Momcilo together with Eddie Custovic, chair of our Foundation witnessed the design & manufacture process of these systems at Photon Systems Instruments in Brno, Czech Republic.
Rather than just sign a piece of paper, both foundations have already started collaborating. Together with IEEE, they are delivering the largest innovation competition in the country. Over 40 teams have applied for the IEEE innovation Nation competition from all major cities in the country.
In order for me to be closer to Vildana and some other BH Futures Foundation members, and work together on the last preparation phase of the Futures Makerspace, I went back to spend my last two Bosnian weeks in Banja Luka, where I was comfortably hosted by a Foundation scholar, Damir Bajramović and his friendly flatmate Andrej Bucalo.
We are happy to announce that Mugdim Đuliman, one of our students who joined the Foundation in April this year, is an active member of Let’s do it BiHwhere contributes a lot to organization and coordination of clean-up actions. He has already participated in one such action recently and below is his great experience.
On 19th September, Sarajevo QA Crew made another outstanding event! With the great support from the Mistral company and EuroSTAR Conference, the biggest software testing conference in Europe, their QA meetup brought together almost 100 QA enthusiasts in Mistral company. The guests showed a huge interest in the meetup. After posting the event on social media, all places had been reserved in only three hours.
From an early age, I showed interest in technology and disassembled things like watches to find out how they work. In my spare time, I loved to read books, so I got interested in how books were made. This is how I got into graphics technologies. I was always creative and an art lover, most of all interested in photography, so this faculty is a mix of things that I love.
This past weekend, Coordinator of our mentorship program, Ali Mokayes, attended the event hosted by the B&H Consulate in Munich, and organized by Pangea, our Foundation, and Masterwerk on the topic of "Knowledge Transfer and How to Establish a Successful Mentoring Program".
On Tuesday 10th September, the Bosnia and Herzegovina community in Sydney had the opportunity to attend the screening of a documentary called ‘Return to Bosnia’; a documentary related to suffering, displacement and many other calamities caused by the Bosnian war in the 90s.
Do you remember Belma? She was one of the speakers at 3rd BH Futures Foundation's Academy in Tuzla in November 2018. She inspired with her story many of our students and guess what?! Our Belma graduated last week from Master Programme in Applied Biotechnology at Uppsala University in Sweden.
One of our most outstanding scholars and students, Momčilo Amović, currently being employed at LANACO, was the coordinator and mentor of internship program in his company.
My stay in Tuzla lasted longer than expected. I have to admit that I am the kind of person who easily feels uncomfortable at some point, when staying at someone’s place – particularly if this someone is newly met. But to be fair, my different hosts (Ali and Haris, but also Ajdin Nakičević) have been remarkably welcoming, and importantly enough, I am glad that this allows me to almost exclusively hang out with locals. After all, I came to Bosnia and Herzegovina to meet Bosnians.
BH Futures Foundation visited Chicago and hosted an intimate networking event for Bosnia & Herzegovina professionals in the area. We met some amazing people and presented the work we do.
One of our favorite things that we love to do in the Foundation is to create an environment where young people can grow by taking opportunities that we are providing for them. Not everyone is brave enough to take a chance. Our greatest satisfaction is to whiteness all the personal changes that our students are willing to achieve and give them our full support. Today we will hear about Haris Hadzic's road trip with our Eddie... Let's call it "First time in Banja Luka"
