BHFF Sends Its Scholars to the Global Stage: Berlin’s WeAreDevelopers Conference
As part of its continuous mission to open global doors for young talent, the Bosnia and Herzegovina Futures Foundation (BHFF) enabled four of its outstanding members—Senior Scholars: Lamija Mehić, Ismail Burajić, Imad Buljić, and BHFF Alumni Amir Muračević—to attend one of the world’s most influential tech gatherings, WAD 26 - WeAreDevelopers World Congress, held in Berlin, from July 8–10, 2026.
Bringing together more than 15,000 developers, engineers, founders, and tech leaders from across the globe, the conference represents a hub of innovation where the future of technology is actively being shaped. Thanks to BHFF’s support, its Scholars were not just observers—but active participants in this global exchange of ideas.
From cutting-edge discussions on artificial intelligence to real-world insights into the future of software engineering, the BHFF team immersed themselves in an environment that many young professionals only dream of reaching.
For Lamija Mehić, a Software Engineering student, the experience was both humbling and empowering.
“At first, you question whether you belong among thousands of world-class developers. But then you realize—this is exactly where you’re supposed to be,” she shared.
Throughout the event, the Scholars engaged directly with leading global companies including GitHub, JetBrains, and Cloudflare—gaining first-hand insights into industry expectations, emerging technologies, and the skills required to thrive in an increasingly competitive landscape.
However, the most valuable takeaway extended beyond technical knowledge.
It was a shift in perspective.
The experience reinforced that success in tech is not defined by knowing everything—but by curiosity, initiative, and the courage to step into spaces that feel out of reach.
“No one expects perfection. What truly stands out is the willingness to learn, to ask questions, and to take initiative,” Lamija emphasized.
Beyond the conference halls, the experience fostered deeper connections—within the team and with the global community. Exploring Berlin, exchanging ideas, and engaging with professionals from diverse backgrounds further strengthened their sense of belonging to an international network of innovators.
By providing access to opportunities like WeAreDevelopers, BHFF continues to demonstrate its commitment to empowering the next generation—not only through education, but through real-world exposure at the highest level.
This experience stands as a powerful reminder: with the right support, talent from Bosnia and Herzegovina does not just reach the global stage—it thrives on it.
