BHFF Alumni Melisa Musić and Dino Burić Lead MedTech Workshop at Futures Academy in Zenica, Showcasing the Power of Mentorship and Innovation
The Bosnia and Herzegovina Futures Foundation (BHFF) continues to strengthen its role as a platform for developing future leaders by enabling its scholars and alumni to actively contribute to knowledge-sharing and innovation.
At this year’s Futures Academy in Zenica, BHFF Alumni Melisa Musić and Dino Burić delivered a comprehensive workshop titled “Code Can Heal: How Technology is Shaping the Future of Healthcare”.
The workshop brought together students and young professionals interested in exploring one of the most rapidly evolving fields today—the intersection of information technology and healthcare.
Through a structured and interactive session, participants were introduced to both the technological advancements and the real-world challenges shaping modern healthcare systems.
The content of the workshop focused on practical and relevant applications of technology, including the use of artificial intelligence in radiology, clinical decision support systems (CDSS), and continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) in diabetes care.
In addition, participants explored the role of large language models in healthcare, with a distinction between general-purpose AI tools and those specifically designed for medical use.
The session also addressed broader topics such as data ethics, patient privacy, and systemic challenges within the healthcare sector, particularly in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Beyond the technical scope, the workshop encouraged participants to think critically about how innovation can be applied in meaningful ways. By connecting theory with practice, the session highlighted how technology can support healthcare professionals, improve decision-making processes, and contribute to more efficient and accessible systems.
This initiative represents a direct outcome of BHFF’s mentorship-driven approach to development. The foundation for the workshop was established through the BHFF Mentorship Program, where Melisa Musić had the opportunity to collaborate with Dr. med. univ. Amel Havkić, MBA, gaining valuable insights into the medtech field and its practical applications. This mentorship played an important role in shaping the knowledge and perspective later shared with participants.
The origins of this journey trace back to the Futures Leaders Summit 2025, where initial ideas were formed and connections established within the BHFF network. Through continuous engagement, support, and access to opportunities, these early experiences evolved into a concrete initiative aimed at transferring knowledge and inspiring others.
By supporting its members beyond formal programs and encouraging them to take on active roles within the community, BHFF creates a sustainable cycle of growth—where today’s participants become tomorrow’s leaders and educators. The Futures Academy serves as a key platform for this exchange, enabling alumni to return with new expertise and contribute to the development of younger generations.
