BHFF Alumna Melisa Musić Brings "Code Can Heal" Workshop to Prolog Conference
What happens when medicine meets technology — and when mentorship helps a young professional discover possibilities beyond her original field?
On 25 September 2026, BHFF Alumna Melisa Musić delivered her workshop, “Code Can Heal: How Technology Is Shaping the Future of Healthcare,” at Prolog Conference in Sarajevo. The workshop explored how technology and artificial intelligence can contribute to healthcare and why their purpose should extend beyond innovation itself: improving healthcare systems and patient outcomes.
The workshop was another step in Melisa’s journey at the intersection of medicine, technology, and innovation — a journey shaped in part by the BH Futures Foundation’s Mentorship Program.
When Medicine Meets Technology
The workshop brought together high school and university students with backgrounds in electrical engineering and information technology, many of whom were curious about the possibilities of medical technology, or MedTech.
Through the session, Melisa explored the relationship between healthcare and technological innovation, encouraging participants to consider how knowledge from different disciplines can be combined to address real-world healthcare challenges.
The central question behind the workshop was simple: What is the point of technology and artificial intelligence if they do not help improve our healthcare systems?
For Melisa, this question reflects the importance of looking beyond technological progress for its own sake. In healthcare, innovation matters most when it can contribute to better patient care, more effective processes, and meaningful improvements in how healthcare systems operate.
The workshop had previously been delivered at the Futures Academy in Zenica in July 2026, together with BHFF Alumnus Dino Burić. At Prolog Conference, Melisa delivered it independently, building on the experience and continuing to share her interest in the intersection of medicine and technology.
A Passion Project Becomes a Platform for Innovation
The workshop took place at Prolog Conference, an initiative that began in 2025 as a Passion Project within BHFF and has since grown into a larger event focused on artificial intelligence.
Founded by BHFF Alumni Azra Kurić and Tarik Agić, Prolog brought together speakers, workshop leaders, and participants interested in exploring AI and its applications. The 2026 edition featured more than 40 participants and a program of expert talks and practical workshops.
Melisa’s contribution connected naturally with the conference’s broader purpose: creating opportunities for people to explore emerging technologies, exchange knowledge, and discover how innovation can be applied across different fields.
Her workshop also demonstrated how members of the BHFF community can bring their own academic and professional interests into spaces that encourage interdisciplinary learning.
The Role of Mentorship in Expanding Possibilities
Melisa’s journey toward combining medicine and technology is also connected to her experience in the BHFF Mentorship Program, where she was mentored by Dr. Amel Havkić, MBA.
Through this mentorship, Melisa gained exposure to possibilities beyond the boundaries of her immediate academic discipline. The experience encouraged her to explore the intersection of healthcare, technology, and innovation, helping her see how different areas of knowledge can come together to address complex challenges.
As Melisa has reflected on her experience, mentorship helped her discover professional horizons she had not previously considered.
Her work on “Code Can Heal” offers a tangible example of how that guidance can translate into action. What begins as a conversation, a new perspective, or encouragement from a mentor can develop into a workshop, a new professional interest, and an opportunity to inspire others.
This is the impact of mentorship: not simply providing advice, but helping young people recognize opportunities, build confidence, and explore paths they may not have imagined for themselves.
Growing Through the BHFF Community
Melisa’s workshop at Prolog Conference reflects several elements of BHFF’s mission: supporting young people through mentorship, encouraging interdisciplinary collaboration, and creating opportunities for Scholars and Alumni to share their knowledge with others.
Her story also highlights the value of the connections that continue beyond a formal mentorship relationship. The skills, confidence, and perspectives gained through mentorship can influence how Alumni approach their careers, contribute to their communities, and support the next generation.
From medicine to artificial intelligence, Melisa continues to explore how different fields can work together to create meaningful change.
At the same time, Prolog’s growth from a BHFF Passion Project into a larger conference demonstrates what can happen when young people are encouraged to take initiative and develop their ideas.
Turning Possibilities Into Impact
For Melisa Musić, delivering “Code Can Heal” at Prolog Conference was more than an opportunity to present a workshop. It was another chance to connect her medical background with her interest in technology and encourage students to think about the possibilities at their intersection.
Her journey, shaped in part by the support of Dr. Amel Havkić through the BHFF Mentorship Program, illustrates how mentorship can open doors to new interests and help turn ideas into meaningful experiences.
At BHFF, these journeys matter. They show how investing in young people can create a ripple effect — from a mentor helping one person see new possibilities to that person sharing those possibilities with an entirely new audience.
Because sometimes, all it takes to begin changing the future is someone who helps you see what is possible.
