ServiceNow AI expert Irfan Mulic praises foundation on N1
From studying electrical engineering in Sarajevo to leading artificial intelligence projects for some of the world's largest companies, Irfan Mulić is an inspiring example of Bosnian and Herzegovinian talent succeeding on the global stage. During his appearance on N1 television's morning programme Novi Dan on October 17, 2026, Mulić discussed his remarkable career, the AI revolution, and the future of technology. He also took the opportunity to recognise the outstanding work of BH Futures Foundation and its founder, Dr. Edhem Čustović, in developing young talent and connecting Bosnia and Herzegovina's global professional community.
From Sarajevo to the Forefront of Artificial Intelligence
Irfan Mulić's professional journey demonstrates the extraordinary potential of talent originating from Bosnia and Herzegovina.
After completing his undergraduate studies in Computer Science and Engineering at the University of Sarajevo, he continued his education in the United States, earning a master's degree in Computer Science from the University of California, San Diego.
Today, based in Dallas, Texas, Mulić is an engineering and AI leader at ServiceNow, a global technology company specialising in enterprise workflow automation and artificial intelligence.
With approximately a decade of experience at ServiceNow, he has played important roles in developing enterprise software platforms and leading engineering initiatives across multiple business units.
His work has included developing AI-powered solutions for some of the world's most recognisable organisations.
Most notably, Mulić led an agentic AI transformation of Nestlé's marketing operations, supporting approximately 18,000 users. He has also delivered advanced AI workflows for BlackRock, one of the world's largest investment management companies.
His contributions to innovation at ServiceNow have earned him three awards.
During his N1 interview, Mulić discussed how artificial intelligence is fundamentally transforming the way organisations operate, how businesses are adopting increasingly autonomous AI systems, and what these developments mean for the future of employment.
His experience places him at the forefront of a technological revolution that is reshaping industries worldwide.
A Special Recognition for BH Futures Foundation
One of the most meaningful moments of Mulić's television appearance was his recognition of the remarkable work being undertaken by BH Futures Foundation and its founder, Dr. Edhem Čustović.
Mulić praised the Foundation's commitment to identifying, supporting, and developing young talent from Bosnia and Herzegovina, while highlighting the importance of connecting accomplished professionals, academics, scientists, and entrepreneurs across the global Bosnian and Herzegovinian community.
His recognition reflects the very mission that BH Futures Foundation has pursued for more than a decade: ensuring that young people from Bosnia and Herzegovina have access to the knowledge, mentorship, networks, and opportunities they need to compete and succeed internationally.
Founded by Dr. Edhem Čustović, an engineer, academic, and entrepreneur who spent much of his professional career in Australia before returning to Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Foundation has grown into a global network dedicated to empowering the country's next generation of leaders.
Through mentoring programmes, scholarships, educational initiatives, international conferences, and professional networking events, BH Futures Foundation has supported more than 6,500 young people, including approximately 1,000 mentees who have benefited from connections with experienced professionals.
The Foundation has also organised more than 220 professional networking gatherings, bringing together members of the Bosnian and Herzegovinian diaspora across Europe, North America, Australia, and beyond.
These gatherings create meaningful opportunities for collaboration, professional development, entrepreneurship, and knowledge exchange.
Recognition from internationally accomplished professionals such as Irfan Mulić reinforces the importance of this work and demonstrates the value of building bridges between global expertise and local potential.
Our Diaspora Is One of Bosnia and Herzegovina's Greatest Assets
Mulić's success is part of a much larger story.
Across the world, professionals originating from Bosnia and Herzegovina are contributing to groundbreaking scientific discoveries, developing transformative technologies, leading international organisations, and building successful businesses.
From Silicon Valley and major American technology companies to leading universities, research institutions, and entrepreneurial ecosystems around the world, our people are making an extraordinary impact.
However, an important question remains:
How can we translate the international success of our diaspora into tangible opportunities for young people and economic development in Bosnia and Herzegovina?
This question lies at the heart of BH Futures Foundation's mission.
The Foundation believes that the diaspora should not simply be viewed through the lens of emigration or brain drain. Instead, it represents an enormous global network of expertise, experience, relationships, and resources that can contribute directly to the country's future.
A successful engineer in the United States can mentor a student in Sarajevo. An entrepreneur in Germany can help a young founder in Tuzla access international markets. A scientist in Australia can connect a promising researcher in Mostar with a world-class laboratory.
Sometimes, a single introduction, mentorship relationship, or professional opportunity can change the trajectory of a young person's life.
By facilitating these connections, BH Futures Foundation is helping transform the concept of brain drain into brain circulation, where knowledge and opportunities flow across borders and benefit Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Artificial Intelligence Presents a Historic Opportunity for Bosnia and Herzegovina
The rapid development of artificial intelligence also creates new possibilities for countries such as Bosnia and Herzegovina.
As Mulić's career demonstrates, professionals educated in Bosnia and Herzegovina can contribute to some of the world's most sophisticated technological systems.
The next generation of Bosnian engineers, developers, researchers, and entrepreneurs has the potential not only to participate in the global AI economy but also to develop internationally competitive products and companies from within Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Achieving this requires more than technical education.
It requires mentorship, international exposure, access to experienced industry leaders, entrepreneurial opportunities, and a community willing to invest in young people.
These are precisely the areas where BH Futures Foundation continues to make a difference.
By connecting young talent with accomplished professionals worldwide, the Foundation is helping create the conditions for the next generation of technology leaders to emerge.
Building Bosnia and Herzegovina's Future Together
BH Futures Foundation sincerely thanks Irfan Mulić for his kind words, encouragement, and recognition of the Foundation's work.
His professional achievements are a source of inspiration for young people throughout Bosnia and Herzegovina and a powerful reminder that talent from our country can compete at the highest international levels.
Equally important is his recognition of the collective responsibility we share to support those who come after us.
Our ambition is not simply to help young people from Bosnia and Herzegovina succeed around the world. It is to ensure that their success, knowledge, and international connections also contribute to building a stronger, more innovative, and economically prosperous Bosnia and Herzegovina.
We invite accomplished professionals, researchers, entrepreneurs, and industry leaders of Bosnian and Herzegovinian origin, wherever they may live, to become part of this mission.
Whether through mentorship, knowledge sharing, professional introductions, financial contributions, or creating new business opportunities, everyone has something valuable to contribute.
Because the future of Bosnia and Herzegovina will be shaped not only by those who live within its borders, but also by the global community that continues to believe in its potential.
Together, we are building the future.
