Momčilo Amović on N1: Youth Are Key to Bosnia and Herzegovina’s Future

On August 12, N1 marked International Youth Day with a discussion featuring young voices from across Bosnia and Herzegovina. Guests included Nedža Čolo, psychology student and youth activist; high school students Anur Mešić and Zlatan Hadžić; and Momčilo Amović, IT expert and Future Foundation alumnus, joining live from Banja Luka.

The conversation highlighted both the potential and the challenges facing Bosnian youth. Nedža emphasized that young people are a vital resource, yet many feel uncertain about their role and opportunities in the country. Zlatan and Anur described widespread apathy among younger generations, shaped by limited civic engagement and career prospects.

Momčilo Amović said that change starts locally: “By improving ourselves, our communities, and our cities, we can create broader impact.”. Drawing from international experience, he underlined the potential of Bosnian youth to match their peers globally. Through education, innovation, and volunteer initiatives, he works to provide opportunities that encourage young people to stay and contribute to the country’s development.

Despite bureaucratic challenges and societal discouragement, the guests agreed that even small changes are better than stagnation. International Youth Day served as a reminder of the important role young people play in shaping Bosnia and Herzegovina’s future.
