BHFF Scholars Visit Verlab Research Institute: Where Science Meets Changemakers

On May 9th, four BHFF scholars had the opportunity to visit the Verlab Research Institute for Biomedical Engineering, Medical Devices, and Artificial Intelligence—the only private research institute of its kind in Bosnia and Herzegovina. With innovation at its core, Verlab is not just a research powerhouse; It’s a place where science drives meaningful change in society.

Verlab’s mission—inspiring through education, delivering through business, and leading through research—beautifully aligns with the core values of the Bosnia and Herzegovina Futures Foundation. It’s no surprise that our paths have intersected.

The visit was led by Adna Softić, expert associate in the field of natural sciences, who gave our scholars a deep dive into Verlab’s vision and achievements. One of the visit's highlights was the demonstration of Bosnia and Herzegovina’s first High Performance Computer (HPC), used for processing vast datasets—an exciting milestone for scientific research in the region.

In addition to cutting-edge research, Verlab plays a crucial role in the verification and inspection of medical devices with measurement functions, in compliance with Bosnia and Herzegovina's Law on Metrology. Our scholars were given an engaging introduction to the Institute’s precision equipment and daily operations. This visit was also a full-circle moment: our scholars met BHFF Alumnus Basil Bošnjak, now an IT engineer at Verlab. It’s always special when the Foundation community reconnects in professional spaces.

The Verlab team—including Adna, Sarah, Ana, Basil, Bilal, and many others—welcomed our scholars with warmth and enthusiasm, offering a glimpse into a collaborative, forward-thinking environment. This visit marks the beginning of what we hope will be a strong and ongoing partnership. Because when #science meets #changemakers, the future is bright.
