Alumni success: Nina Stefanovic best teaching assistant at University of Connecticut

Our alumna Nina Stefanović has been awarded for her outstanding teaching at the University of Connecticut, where she is undertaking her Ph.D. studies. She received the recognition within the College of Engineering as a teaching assistant for the period of fall 2023.

Nina completed a bachelor of electrical engineering (automation) at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, University of Banja Luka. She became a scholar of our foundation in 2019 during which time she excelled as a student and volunteer leader.

Her passion for teaching really came to fruition while she was part of the foundation’s outreach / mobile makerspace team. She and her team ran dozens of workshops online and live for young people all over Bosnia & Herzegovina on topics such as: 3D Printing, Arduino, Web Development, and Python.

As a volunteer, I got various volunteering opportunities. My favourite ones were volunteering as a math tutor and holding free workshops for youth across Bosnia and Herzegovina. The decision to become a member of this team was based on my struggles while figuring out what my future career should be. So I wanted to provide others with opportunities to try themselves in different fields, hoping to help them find out what their dream job is.
