speak & inspire

With so much Bosnia & Herzegovina talent scattered all over the world and all over Bosnia & Herzegovina, sharing knowledge and building capacity is the duty of each and every one of us. Knowledge transfer can occur in so many different ways and BH Futures Foundation facilitates all of them. We view Bosnia & Herzegovina’s diaspora and citizens as one body and thus our collective knowledge and knowhow is enormous. Whether you are a university professor, industry expert, university student or business owner, you can make a significant contribution by deciding to engage with students in Bosnia & Herzegovina.

The next time you travel there, while enjoying sightseeing and family visits, consider sharing some knowledge with the super-talented youth. Below you can see the many different ways you can engage with students in Bosnia & Herzegovina, industry and the general public. If you live in Bosnia & Herzegovina, you are always welcome to contribute wherever you feel most comfortable. Let us put knowledge first!

If you live in the diaspora then you are like the rest of us and visit Bosnia & Herzegovina. Some of us visit once a year, some of us several times a year and some only once in a while. Regardless of how often you visit, the next time you do, we would like to host you.

The next time you travel to Bosnia & Herzegovina, fill out our form and let us know when you will be there, where you plan to be and how much time you could set aside to engage with our students.

Distance should not stop you from transferring your knowledge and experience to the youth of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Through the Futures Webinar Series we are enabling our youth to learn about the latest trends in technology, business, leadership, management, engineering and science. We do so online and just-in-time. Audience is young professionals and students, mostly of STEM sciences. Webinars run for approximately 60 minutes, and a maximum 30 minutes of Q & A. Webinar attendees have the opportunity to pose questions to webinar speakers and connect with them via LinkedIn.

Workshop sessions are held each month, with the aim to improve mostly soft skills, but also hard skills of our scholars. Workshop can be implemented both live, if the speaker resides in Bosnia and Herzegovina currently, and online, for those whose heart is in the country. Audience of workshop are exclusively students scholars of the BH Futures Foundation, as a part of the curriculum to develop their personal and professional skills.

As the market changes rapidly, and the formal education in Bosnia is not following the pace, with courses we are giving our scholars the opportunity to learn trending, yet everlasting skills in engineering, IT, management, etc. Courses are being implemented online, and all of its content is available for our scholars on our learning platform. If you have some great skills in any mentioned area, and a bit of free time, do not hesitate to apply and make your knowledge more valuable and meaningful – by sharing it.

Breakfast & Chat With...

Breakfast and chat is a signature event of the Bosnia & Herzegovina Futures Foundation that typically lasts for 90-120 minutes. As the title indicates, a light breakfast is served early in the morning at a location that is suitable to you and our students. It is an informal setting that allows you to get to know our students and vice-versa. You can choose to give a presentation or just hang out to talk about your career, projects, advice you may have for them.

Futures Academy

Futures academies are BH Futures Foundation accelerated learning weekends for the foundation scholars. Students come from all over the country and we always invite up to 10 guest students from the town/city we host the event in. The academy is held 3 times a year (typically in Feb/March, June/July and Nov/Dev time frames). The academies are rotated through different cities/towns in Bosnia & Herzegovina to reach new audiences and better engage our scholars with different communities in the homeland.

To date we have run academies in Banja Luka, Tuzla, Mostar, Srebrenica, Sarajevo and Zenica.

In July of 2019 we opened up a Maker Space in Srebrenica. It is the first of many that we plan to open or partner with other organisations in order to open & run. These spaces are technology infused learning spaces that allow young people to play with technology, interact with other like minded individuals and develop solutions to community problems. We invite diaspora, industry partners and our scholars to volunteer and inspire the young minds who come to Futures Maker Spaces.

Schools Outreach Program

A vast majority of primary/elementary and high schools are very poorly technologically equipped. This is particularly true of schools outside of the major cities. Rural schools are suffering the most where in some cases children are learning about Microsoft word and excel by drawing interfaces rather than using computers! Furthermore, very few schools have the ability to send their students to bigger towns to get access to technology they need in today’s modern learning environments.

These are all major reasons why BH Futures Foundation established the “Schools outreach program” - We travel all over Bosnia & Herzegovina, visiting event the most remote schools. Our scholars volunteer to give presentations, run workshops and provide mentorship to their younger peers. You can also join us on one of our trips. Perhaps you want to visit the school in the town you are from.

Leaders Tribe

As Leadership is one of the three pillars of the BH Futures Foundation, we work hard to instil the correct leadership qualities in our scholars and society. Together with our partner Softhouse Consulting we organise “Leaders Tribe” - connecting good leaders in BiH and beyond. Together we take interest in the values, principles, traits and working models for a good leaders to develop to envision, support, guide and encourage the people she or he leads so they become outstanding professionals.

Each gathering has a focus on a particular theme from the domain of leadership, selected by the host company for a specific gathering.

Several speakers are invited to share their experience of the chosen topic in a short 10-minute presentation. After the presentations the audience and speakers have an interactive session of feedback and networking. Find out more
