BHFF Alumni Dino Burić and Team Win 1st Place at BIP EUC Startup Competition with AI Posture Assistant

Bosnia & Herzegovina Futures Foundation (BHFF) Alumni, Dino Burić, together with his team members Amina Šarić and Adelisa Marić, secured 1st place at the BIP EUC Startup Academy & Competition, held at the European University Cyprus. The competition was part of a five-day international program organized by the SUNRISE Alliance, bringing together 24 teams from eight universities across Europe, including participants from Italy, Germany, Sweden, Poland, Albania, and other countries.

The EUC Startup Academy & Competition is an intensive five-day program where students develop their startup ideas through workshops, mentorship, and pitch preparation, culminating in presentations before an international jury.

The University “Džemal Bijedić” in Mostar participated with two startup ideas, further highlighting the growing innovation ecosystem within the university.

The winning project, Atlas, is a browser-based AI assistant designed to monitor and improve users’ posture in real time. The idea emerged from a simple yet widespread issue—prolonged sitting and poor posture habits among students and professionals.

Atlas utilizes a device’s camera to track posture indicators such as head position, shoulder alignment, and distance from the screen. When improper posture is detected, the system provides real-time feedback. Importantly, the solution is fully privacy-focused, as all processing is performed locally on the user’s device, ensuring that no image or biometric data leaves the computer and that the system is compliant with GDPR regulations.

A key strength of the team’s presentation was the fact that Atlas was not just a concept, but a fully developed and functional application, which significantly impressed the jury.

The project evolved from an initial idea in Mostar into a product recognized on an international stage. Throughout the competition, the team refined both their technical solution and business pitch, ultimately standing out among strong European competition.

The team’s success was supported by mentorship and academic guidance. Sara Kljajić played a key role in mentoring the team, while additional feedback during the program from Michalina Mroz and Dr. Celia Hadjichristodoulou helped strengthen their final pitch.

Continuous support was also provided by their professors, Aida Brkan Vejzović and Denis Mušić, as well as Admir Šehidić, whose guidance contributed to the development of the project.

The victory of Team Atlas represents a significant achievement for the University “Džemal Bijedić” in Mostar and confirms that students from Bosnia and Herzegovina can compete on equal footing with peers from leading European universities.

This success reflects the broader mission of the Bosnia & Herzegovina Futures Foundation—to empower young talent, foster innovation, and support the development of impactful, real-world solutions.
