BHFF Alumna Lejla Nezirović and Team Present Health-Tech Startup Mindly at EUC Startup Academy
Bosnia & Herzegovina Futures Foundation (BHFF) Alumna, Lejla Nezirović, together with her team members Amar Obradović and Nejra Zaklan, represented the University “Džemal Bijedić” in Mostar at the Cyprus Startup Academy for Future Founders, held at the European University Cyprus as part of the SUNRISE Alliance program.
During the five-day academy, participants engaged in an intensive program designed to support the development of early-stage startup ideas. Through workshops, mentorship sessions, and pitch preparation, students refined their concepts and prepared to present them before an international jury.
The team introduced Mindly, a health-tech platform designed to support individuals living with dementia and their families. The solution combines a smart hardware device with a mobile application for caregivers, aiming to improve patient care, monitoring, and overall quality of life.
At the final startup competition, teams presented their ideas through a five-minute pitch. Among 24 teams from across Europe, Mindly was recognized as one of the top 10 startup ideas, attracting interest from potential stakeholders and validating the relevance of the solution.
Beyond the competition, the academy provided participants with valuable insights from experienced entrepreneurs, who shared practical knowledge on building, scaling, and sustaining successful businesses. This exposure enabled students to better understand how to transform innovative ideas into functional and impactful startups.
For Lejla Nezirović, the experience marked an important milestone, as it was her first time publicly pitching a startup idea in front of a large audience. The opportunity to present, receive feedback, and connect with other innovators contributed significantly to her professional and entrepreneurial development.
The participation of the Mindly team highlights the growing potential of students from Bosnia and Herzegovina. Competing alongside peers from larger and more established European universities, they demonstrated that innovation, ambition, and determination are key drivers of success.
Their experience reinforces the idea that impactful solutions can emerge regardless of geographical or institutional limitations, and that young innovators from Bosnia and Herzegovina can compete—and excel—on the international stage.
This achievement reflects the mission of the Bosnia & Herzegovina Futures Foundation to empower young talent, encourage innovation, and support the development of ideas that create meaningful change in society.
