Bosnia & Herzegovina Professionals Gather in Nashville to Build Connections and Inspire Collaboration
On Saturday, 20 June 2026, approximately 30 Bosnia & Herzegovina professionals came together in Nashville, Tennessee, for a community networking event organised by the Bosnia & Herzegovina Futures Foundation (BHFF).
Despite the timing coinciding with summer travel plans for many members of our community—some already in Bosnia & Herzegovina and others travelling across the United States to support our national football team—we were delighted to bring together an outstanding group of people from across the region.
While the event was held in Nashville, attendees travelled from a wide geographical area, including Knoxville and Memphis in Tennessee, Bowling Green in Kentucky, and even Evansville, Indiana. The gathering showcased the incredible diversity and talent within the Bosnian and Herzegovinian diaspora in the American South and Midwest.
Participants represented a broad range of professions and career stages. Among those present were university students studying on athletic scholarships, engineers, lawyers, managers, researchers, academics, healthcare professionals, and many others. The event provided a unique opportunity for attendees to expand their professional networks, exchange ideas, and discover new opportunities for collaboration.
The evening began with an introduction to the work and impact of the Bosnia & Herzegovina Futures Foundation, highlighting the organisation’s mission of connecting, developing, and empowering young people from Bosnia & Herzegovina around the world. Participants also had the opportunity to learn more about the work of the Bosnian American Professionals Association (BAPA), represented by Adina Husić, whose organisation partnered with BHFF to support the event.
One of the highlights of the gathering was a structured speed-networking session consisting of five rounds of conversations. The format ensured that participants had the opportunity to meet and engage with a large number of attendees throughout the evening. As is often the case at our events, many participants discovered fellow Bosnians and Herzegovinians living and working nearby whom they had never met before.
These moments serve as a powerful reminder of why community-building matters. By creating opportunities for meaningful connections, we help foster new friendships, professional partnerships, mentorship relationships, and collaborative initiatives that strengthen both our diaspora communities and our connections with the homeland.
BHFF Founder, Dr. Edhem Čustović, addressed attendees briefly, sharing the Foundation’s vision and encouraging participants to explore ways to become involved in its programs and activities. The discussion focused on the importance of giving back, supporting future generations, and leveraging the collective expertise of our global community to create positive impact for Bosnia & Herzegovina.
A special thank you goes to Vedrana Vujić, who served as our local contact and played an important role in supporting the organisation of the gathering.
While this was our first event of its kind in the region, it certainly will not be the last. The enthusiasm, energy, and willingness to connect demonstrated by everyone in attendance confirmed that there is tremendous potential to grow a vibrant Bosnia & Herzegovina professional community in this part of the United States.
We look forward to building on this momentum, creating new opportunities for engagement, and welcoming even more members of our community to future events.
Together, we continue to demonstrate that no matter where we live in the world, our connections to one another—and to Bosnia & Herzegovina—remain strong.
