Celebrating BHFF Scholars: Hava Dedić, Junior Scholar, Awarded ACM-W Scholarship to Attend IEEE EDUCON 2026
The BH Futures Foundation proudly celebrates its Junior Scholar, Hava Dedić, a Software Engineering student at the International University of Sarajevo (IUS), who has been awarded the prestigious ACM-W Scholarship for Attendance of Research Conferences by the Association for Computing Machinery’s Council on Women in Computing (ACM-W).
Established in 2006, the ACM-W Scholarship has supported hundreds of women in computing across 44 countries. With only three to six awards granted per selection round worldwide, this recognition represents an exceptionally competitive international achievement, highlighting both academic excellence and research potential.
As part of this honor, Hava is currently representing IUS and Bosnia and Herzegovina at IEEE EDUCON 2026 in Cairo, Egypt—one of the world’s leading conferences in engineering education. There, she is presenting her research poster titled “STEM Through Stories: The Marie Curies of the Mediterranean” at the Women in Engineering Poster Session.
Hava’s achievement also reflects the growing impact of the ACM-W Sarajevo Professional Chapter, the first and only ACM-W professional chapter in Bosnia and Herzegovina, which continues to actively support and empower women in computing through mentorship, advocacy, and professional development opportunities.
Her success stands as a strong example of the mission BH Futures Foundation supports through its scholars network: empowering young talent to participate in global academic and professional spaces, and contribute to innovation in technology and education.
The BH Futures Foundation extends its sincere congratulations to Hava Dedić and wishes her continued success at IEEE EDUCON 2026 and in her academic journey ahead.
