Ilma Hodžić and Usame Čolaković Present 3 Minute Thesis Competition on FACE TV

On March 15, representatives of the Bosnia & Herzegovina Futures Foundation appeared on FACE TV’s morning program to discuss the Three Minute Thesis (3MT) competition and its role in promoting scientific communication among young researchers.

Guests in the program were Ilma Hodžić, Senior Scholar, and Usame Čolaković, Marketing Manager at the Bosnia & Herzegovina Futures Foundation. During the conversation, they introduced the concept of the 3 Minute Thesis (3MT) competition, an academic challenge in which participants present their research in just three minutes, focusing on clarity, impact, and the ability to communicate complex ideas to a general audience.

They emphasized that the core of the competition is not only the research itself, but also scientific communication — the skill of presenting academic work in a clear, engaging, and accessible way. Through this format, students learn how to effectively share their ideas beyond academic circles and make their research understandable to the wider public.

Ilma Hodžić also shared her personal experience with the competition, highlighting that she won 3rd place in the Bachelor category at the 3MT 2025 competition. She spoke about how the experience helped her develop confidence in presenting research and demonstrated the importance of communicating science in a simple and impactful way.

Usame Čolaković discussed the broader mission of the Bosnia & Herzegovina Futures Foundation to support young talents and create platforms where students and researchers can present their work, exchange ideas, and further develop professionally.

During the program, they also invited students and young researchers from across Bosnia and Herzegovina to apply and take part in the competition. More information about the 3 Minute Thesis (3MT) competition and application details can be found here.

The discussion highlighted the importance of initiatives that empower young academics, promote research, and strengthen the culture of knowledge sharing and innovation in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
