Foundation Presented at Prosperitet Fond Gathering in Switzerland
BH Futures Foundation’s mission and work were presented at Prosperitet Fond’s annual gathering in Windisch, Switzerland, on 31 October 2026. Invited speaker and Foundation founder Dr. Edhem Čustović spoke about how connecting Bosnia and Herzegovina’s global community can create opportunities for young people and contribute to the country’s development.
His presentation, “From an Idea to a Global Community Dedicated to the Development of Bosnia and Herzegovina,” explored the importance of belonging, shared purpose and collective knowledge. Drawing on the Foundation’s journey, Čustović illustrated how connections between professionals abroad and young people in Bosnia and Herzegovina can grow into mentorships, scholarships, research collaborations and career opportunities.
The presentation highlighted the Foundation’s approach to developing future leaders through education, technology and leadership. It also explored how diaspora engagement can support entrepreneurship, strengthen cooperation between academia and industry, and bring knowledge and experience into local communities.
For more than a decade, Prosperitet Fond has brought together the Bosnian and Herzegovinian diaspora in Switzerland to support communities in their homeland. Its work includes equipping hospitals, health centres and schools, donating medical beds and equipment, supporting outstanding pupils and university students, and funding Bosnian-language education for children abroad. The organisation also places particular emphasis on sustainable return and the economic empowerment of returnee communities.
Other highlights included meeting Dženeta Halilović, a representative of the Embassy of Bosnia and Herzegovina in Bern, and hearing the story of entrepreneur Senad Omerović of Agrofood in Konjević Polje. His work in vegetable and seedling production offered a practical example of building livelihoods and opportunities in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Performances by the Warda IZBA choir brought warmth to the programme, while several songs by Eso Balić rounded off the evening.
The gathering offered an opportunity to connect with members of the Bosnian and Herzegovinian community in Switzerland and discuss practical ways to contribute. Many attendees have rebuilt their lives after displacement and loss, yet continue to dedicate their time and resources to helping their homeland.
