Dr. Edhem Eddie Čustović at ANUBiH: Building Bridges in Science
The Academy of Sciences and Arts of Bosnia and Herzegovina (ANUBiH) hosted Dr. Edhem Eddie Čustović for a meeting at its historic premises – a true “home of knowledge” whose distinguished members throughout history have included Nobel laureates Ivo Andrić and Vladimir Prelog, as well as celebrated intellectuals such as Meša Selimović, Mak Dizdar, Ivan Supek, and many others who have shaped the science, culture, and society of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the wider region.
During the meeting with academicians Muris Čičić, Asif Šabanović, and Mirko Pejanović, discussions focused on strengthening cooperation between the Bosnia & Herzegovina Futures Foundation and ANUBiH. Key points included advancing science and education, promoting international research collaboration, and building stronger bridges between domestic and diaspora experts.
Concrete steps were agreed upon, including organizing expert lectures in Sarajevo by professionals from the diaspora, continuing the 3 Minute Thesis competition, fostering closer cooperation at conferences, and enhancing connections between researchers in Bosnia and abroad.
Dr. Čustović emphasized the significance of ANUBiH as an open platform and “home of knowledge” where leading experts of Bosnian origin can engage with the academic community in the country. The meeting marked an important step towards building sustainable bridges between Bosnia and Herzegovina’s scientific community and its global diaspora.
