Amel Lizde talks about BH Futures Foundation at RahatLand
Amel Lizde built his career abroad, spoke about the significance of the BH Futures Foundation during his appearance on RahatLand.
When the war in Bosnia and Herzegovina broke out, Lizde moved to the Netherlands. While life in the Netherlands was stable and well-organized, he felt the absence of a strong social life and closeness with family and friends. He studied computer science, project management, and software testing, and secured a job even before completing his degree. During his time in Rotterdam, he built a successful career and purchased an apartment, yet the idea of returning to BiH remained strong.
In 2007, he decided to return to Bosnia and Herzegovina, driven by a sense of responsibility to contribute to the country’s development. The return was not easy—finding a job was challenging—but he was welcomed by a vibrant social life with family and friends, something he had missed in the Netherlands.
"The diaspora is our greatest potential," Lizde emphasized, highlighting the importance of bringing knowledge and experience gained abroad back to Bosnia and Herzegovina. "Come back, bring everything positive you have learned, think rationally, and let’s build this country."
He also pointed out that every individual can make a difference: "I tried to influence at least ten people, and I see that every contribution counts. Imagine what could happen if a larger number of diaspora members decided to return and actively contribute to society."
Amel Lizde specifically praised the work of the BH Futures Foundation, calling it "a very positive organization" and stressing that the people it brings together are essential for the development of the country.
As he noted, more and more people today recognize the opportunities and advantages of living in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and initiatives like the BH Futures Foundation provide a platform for developing talent, networking, and practically applying the knowledge acquired abroad.
