Sara Hadžiavdić Secured her Place at the Prestigious BHAAAS Summer Internship
This summer, genetics student Sara Hadžiavdić from the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Mathematics in Sarajevo, and a proud BHFF (Bosnia & Herzegovina Futures Foundation) scholar, will take part in the highly competitive BHAAAS Summer Internship Program for Biology Students in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
For four weeks, Sara will gain invaluable hands-on experience in a professional laboratory setting, bridging the gap between academic theory and practical application.
“This internship represents a fantastic opportunity to acquire new knowledge and take an important step toward the future I am building every day. Working in the pathology lab will allow me to learn from real cases and gain experience that no textbook can fully provide. I am excited, motivated, and ready to make the most of every opportunity to learn and contribute as much as I can.”, Sara shared ahead of the internship.
A unique summer opportunity for biology students in BiH
The Bosnian-Herzegovinian American Academy of Arts and Sciences (BHAAAS) organizes this program to give undergraduate biology students from across Bosnia and Herzegovina the chance to work in two prestigious laboratories:
The Pathology Laboratory at the University Clinical Center Tuzla
The Quality Control Laboratory at Farmavita in Sarajevo
BHAAAS will cover room and board for students who do not live in the city of their host laboratory, ensuring that young scientists from across the country can fully focus on learning.
Bridging theory and practice
This immersive internship program will equip Sara and her peers with practical skills and real-world professional experience essential for a successful career in biological sciences.
“I see this internship not only as a chance to grow academically but also as an opportunity to contribute meaningfully while learning alongside skilled professionals in a supportive environment,” Sara said.
Sara’s upcoming journey through the BHAAAS internship promises to be a transformative experience that highlights the tremendous value of practical laboratory work for biology students in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
