"Don't Forget Where You Come From" – A Message from Dr. Haris Piplaš to Young Bosnians
Haris Piplaš, a doctor of architecture and urban design based in Germany, recently appeared as a guest on the TV program Sarajevsko jutro. He spoke about Commit2Green, a European initiative focused on greening and renaturalizing urban areas, with the city of Sarajevo participating as one of eight cities across Europe.
Beyond presenting this important environmental project, Haris used the opportunity to deliver a powerful message to young people and highlight the importance of maintaining strong ties between the Bosnian diaspora and their homeland. He spoke about the role of organizations like the BH Futures Foundation, which bring together passionate and talented youth:
"There are many organizations in Bosnia and Herzegovina, such as the BH Futures Foundation, that gather young people. My greatest hope lies in these young individuals who are in no way inferior—if not even better—than their peers in the West, thanks to the energy they bring.
I encourage them not to forget who they are and where they come from—to build that bridge to their homeland. Many young people, unfortunately—or perhaps fortunately—leave the country. But we shouldn't see that as a tragedy. They will return with new knowledge and contacts, and they can become the bridge that connects Bosnia and Herzegovina with the world."
