BH Futures Foundation Scholars Attend Cyber Security Summit 2025 in Sarajevo

Last week, scholars of the Bosnia & Herzegovina Futures Foundation had the opportunity to participate in the Cyber Security Summit 2025 in Sarajevo — one of the most impactful regional events dedicated to advancing cybersecurity knowledge, collaboration, and awareness.

Representing the Foundation were: Sajra Agić – Senior Scholar, Imad Buljić and Hana Ćatić – Junior Scholars.

As someone actively involved in security-relevant projects, Senior Scholar Sajra Agić highlighted how meaningful the experience was for all Foundation participants.

AI and the Future of Cybersecurity

One of the most thought-provoking topics at the Summit was the dual impact of artificial intelligence on security. Participants explored how AI introduces new attack vectors while simultaneously enabling stronger defensive capabilities.

A memorable moment came from Namik Hrle, whose “mad cow disease” analogy illustrated the risks of AI models increasingly learning from AI-generated data — a powerful reminder of the importance of data integrity in the AI era.

Cloud Security: Real-World Challenges and Regional Perspectives

Cloud-related sessions were another highlight, especially the panel “Cybersecurity in the Cloud” featuring Samir Mekic, Mirza Muharemspahić, and Srebrenko Šehić.
They discussed: practical cloud security challenges faced by companies, he shared responsibility model, and strategies for keeping organizations in the region secure as cloud adoption grows.

Strengthening the Future Workforce

For BH Futures Foundation scholars, the Summit served not only as a learning opportunity but also as inspiration to continue contributing to the development of secure digital ecosystems in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
