Five BHFF Scholars Share thier Stories after Receiving Joint Scholarship in Partnership with HTEC
BH Futures Foundation proudly announces that five of our exceptional scholars — Dženan Mehmedović, Ena Milković, Lamija Imamović, Dino Burić, and Samra Smajić have been awarded this year’s Joint Scholarship in partnership with HTEC Group.
This scholarship represents a unique bridge between education and industry, empowering young talents to develop technical expertise, gain mentorship from professionals, and strengthen their connection to the community.
Dino Burić: “This scholarship is not just support — it’s a space for growth.”
For Dino Burić, an active member of the BHFF, the Joint Scholarship was an opportunity to combine volunteering, education, and industry experience.
“As an active member of the Foundation, I felt the need to engage further and become part of a story that connects education, industry, and community. This scholarship meant much more than financial support — it gave me mentorship from professionals at HTEC, a chance to learn first-hand, and the foundation to build my future career in IT.”
Dino’s research on neural networks, which he presented during the scholarship program, marked a turning point in his career.
“The moment I’ll remember most was visiting HTEC and meeting Azra and Mustafa. The friendly and open atmosphere they created made me feel like I truly belonged to a professional community. It motivated me to keep building my path in IT and to support others along the way.”
Dženan Mehmedović: “An opportunity to learn from the best.”
For IT student Dženan Mehmedović, the Joint Scholarship offered a chance to take a meaningful step toward his professional goals.
“I applied because I saw it as a way to connect with one of the leading IT companies in the region and learn from experienced experts. Attending meetups and listening to industry professionals explain new concepts broadened my horizons and motivated me to keep improving.”
Dženan believes this experience gave him a clearer picture of the IT world and confidence to continue his growth:
“The knowledge I gained will help me build a solid foundation for my future career in technology.”
Lamija Imamović: “A bridge between theory and the real world.”
For Lamija Imamović, the scholarship was a key link between her academic studies and real-world challenges.
“I wanted to connect what I’m learning at university with the realities of the tech industry. This experience helped me build confidence, express my ideas clearly, and actively seek new opportunities.”
She highlights the sense of community among scholars as the most valuable part:
“The feeling of belonging to a group that genuinely celebrates each other’s success was truly inspiring.”
Lamija also notes that through this experience, she developed presentation and public speaking skills:
“Before this, I was often unsure about public speaking, but now I see it as a tool to share knowledge and inspire others.”
Samra Smajić: “Mentorship that shaped my professional path.”
For Samra Smajić, inspiration came from reading the story of Emir Zec, whose resilience motivated her to apply.
“His determination showed me the importance of perseverance, and I saw this scholarship as a chance to challenge myself and grow.”
Through the program, Samra met her mentor — a collaboration that directly influenced her graduation thesis and introduced her to the world of automation testing.
“One of my favorite memories was our meetup at HTEC’s offices — it was a wonderful space for connection, conversation, and exchanging ideas.”
She also credits the program for expanding her professional network:
“Thanks to Azra and the HTEC team, I was invited to speak at the Passion Project conference — an experience that pushed me out of my comfort zone and helped me grow both personally and professionally.”
Connecting education, industry, and community
The Joint Scholarship represents more than financial aid — it’s an investment in the next generation of Bosnia and Herzegovina’s tech leaders.
Through the partnership between BH Futures Foundation and HTEC Group, young people gain not only knowledge and mentorship but also the confidence to become active contributors to their communities.
As Dino beautifully put it:
“For me, volunteering and the scholarship are deeply connected — one is the motivation, and the other is the meaning of my engagement.”
When education, industry, and community come together, young people are empowered to grow, create, and shape the future of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
