Alumni success: Saliha Mustafić triumphs in 3 Minute Thesis Competition

Saliha Mustafić, an alumna of the Bosnia & Herzegovina Futures Foundation, has recently clinched the 1st place award in the prestigious 3 Minute Thesis (3MT) Competition. Her groundbreaking research on "Bias in Wikipedia" has drawn significant attention and acclaim. Watch her presentation here.

Saliha's study delves into the underrepresentation and bias present in Wikipedia, with a specific focus on the portrayal of women in science and technology. Utilizing a dataset of biographies from Wikipedia and employing machine learning techniques, she analyzed the gender gap and its implications. Her findings revealed a significant underrepresentation of women in Wikipedia articles, which in turn affects the perception of women's achievements in these critical fields.

Beyond her recent success, Saliha boasts an impressive background. She is currently a Test Engineer at System Verification, a global software quality assurance company. Her role involves using advanced quality monitoring and analytics to enhance client experiences through innovation, efficiency, and security.

She is an alumna of the Zoran Djindjic Internship Programme of German Business, where she held both scholarship holder and alumni member roles.
