A Year of Growth, Opportunity, and Impact: BH Futures Foundation Annual Report 2025
The 2025 Annual Report of the Bosnia & Herzegovina Futures Foundation is not simply a collection of achievements, numbers, or milestones. It is a reflection of what can happen when young people are given trust, guidance, and a community that believes in them.
Behind every statistic in the report is a person who once doubted whether opportunities like these were even possible in Bosnia and Herzegovina. A student attending their first international conference. A young researcher presenting their work with confidence for the first time. A scholar discovering that their ambitions are valid, and that there are people willing to help them grow.
Where Opportunity Begins
Throughout 2025, the Foundation continued building exactly those moments.
Thirty eight new scholars joined the Futures Fellowship program, each arriving with different backgrounds, ambitions, and stories, but with one shared desire: to grow into leaders capable of shaping a better future for their communities.
What makes the Foundation unique is that growth rarely happens alone. It happens through conversations, mentorship calls, workshops, shared experiences, and people who choose to invest their time into someone else’s future.
This year, 70 mentors from 15 countries became part of that journey, helping students navigate careers, research, entrepreneurship, and life itself.
Breaking Barriers Through Access
For many young people in Bosnia and Herzegovina, access is often the biggest barrier. Access to networks. Access to education. Access to global opportunities.
The Foundation spent 2025 trying to close that gap.
More than 50,000 BAM was invested to provide free access for hundreds of students to attend the Future Leaders Summit 2025, a gathering that brought together speakers, researchers, industry professionals, and students in one space.
But the true value of events like these cannot really be measured through attendance numbers alone.
Sometimes impact looks like a student leaving a session believing in themselves a little more than they did before. Sometimes it is a connection made during a coffee break that later turns into an internship, a mentorship, or even a career path. Sometimes it is simply the realization that ambitious young people in Bosnia and Herzegovina are not alone.
Building Confidence Beyond Classrooms
That same idea can be felt throughout the entire report.
In 2025, scholars attended international conferences, participated in educational visits across seven countries, organized workshops for younger students, and created professional meetups that connected communities locally and globally.
The Foundation also continued investing in research and scientific communication through the Three Minute Thesis competition, awarding 12,800 BAM to support young researchers capable of transforming complex ideas into accessible stories.
These initiatives are not only about education. They are about confidence. About helping young people realize that their ideas deserve to be heard, their work deserves recognition, and their future can extend far beyond the limitations they may have once accepted.
The Power of Community
Perhaps the most powerful part of the report appears near the end, not in the numbers, but in the reflections shared by members of the community themselves.
Their words reveal what the Foundation has become for many people: a place of hope.
One member describes it as “a place to explore your dreams and make them real.” Another calls it “the sole reason I still have some hope for B&H.” Others speak about finding confidence, friendships, inspiration, and purpose through the community they discovered here.
Those reflections capture something larger than a single organization.
They tell the story of a generation of young people refusing to accept limitation as their reality. A generation choosing collaboration over hopelessness, mentorship over competition, and community over isolation.
Looking Ahead
The 2025 Annual Report reminds us that impact is not created overnight. It is built slowly through thousands of conversations, volunteer hours, opportunities, and people willing to believe in each other.
And perhaps that is the Foundation’s greatest achievement of all: not only creating opportunities for young people, but helping them believe that their future, and the future of Bosnia and Herzegovina, is still worth building together.
