Ajla Isaković and Melisa Musić at CMBEBIH 2025

CMBEBIH 2025 is organized by the Bosnia and Herzegovina Medical and Biological Engineering Society. Since its inception in 2015, the conference has been held every two years and is now in its sixth edition. It serves as a significant platform for exchanging knowledge and fostering collaboration in medical and biological engineering.

This year’s event was co-organized by the Verlab Research Institute, contributing its expertise in research and technological innovation. The conference was endorsed by leading international organizations:

  • IFMBE (International Federation for Medical and Biological Engineering) – supporting global standards in biomedical engineering,

  • EAMBES (European Alliance for Medical and Biological Engineering & Science) – promoting integration of engineering and science in healthcare across Europe,

  • Springer – ensuring high-quality research presented at the conference reaches a global audience through publication,

  • EIT (European Institute for Innovation and Technology) – fostering digital and green transformation by connecting education, research, and industry.

In addition, CMBEBIH 2025 hosted members of the EUROCC community, a key network driving the advancement of high-performance computing (HPC) across Europe. EUROCC unites national competence centers to enhance HPC capabilities, strengthen digital transformation, and support innovation in research and industry.

The program featured outstanding lectures and discussions, including:

  • Dr. Yiota Foka (CERN) – Hadron therapy and its development,

  • Prof. Piotr Ładyżyński (Polish Academy of Sciences) – AI applications in Medicine,

  • Prof. Nandu Goswami (University of Graz) – Astroaeromedicine,

  • Matija Markulin (University of Zagreb) – Robot-Assisted Prostate Biopsy,

  • Dr. Pradeep Ghosh (FAIR GmbH) – Cutting-edge research at FAIR,

  • Prof. Mirza Žižak (University of Zagreb) – E-learning in Medicine.

Among the attendees were Melisa Musić, Senior Scholar of the Bosnia & Herzegovina Futures Foundation, and Ajla Isaković, Alumni Member of the Foundation.

Reflecting on the experience, Ajla emphasized the value of networking with global experts and the inspiration she gained from exploring the intersection of science, technology, and medicine. Melisa highlighted how the conference not only broadened her perspective on biomedical innovations but also reinforced the importance of building strong regional and international collaborations for the future of healthcare.

Their participation was made possible through the support of the Bosnia & Herzegovina Futures Foundation, which continues to empower young talents by providing opportunities to engage with world-class knowledge and networks.
