From Sarajevo to Heidelberg: Hana Babić Earns Spot in Elite IMIM Master's Program
Out of over 1,300 applicants worldwide, only 33 students were accepted into this year’s highly competitive International Master in Innovative Medicine (IMIM) program — and Hana Babić from the University of Sarajevo is one of them. Even more impressively, she is one of just seven students awarded a full scholarship to study at the prestigious Heidelberg University.
Hana’s selection is not only a testament to her academic excellence but also to her unwavering dedication over the past two years. Her journey has been marked by major milestones that signal a rising star in biomedical sciences.
During this time, Hana has:
Been selected as an Amgen Scholar at Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München
Presented her research at the University of Cambridge
Received the DAAD scholarship from the German Academic Exchange Service
Won the Vera Šnajder Award, granted by the Bosnia & Herzegovina Futures Foundation
Became the youngest participant of the EMBL Summer School for Computing Skills
Beyond these accolades, Hana has consistently pushed the boundaries of her potential — sharpening her scientific skills, investing in personal growth, and fearlessly setting high goals.
“I could not be more proud of you, Hana. You're gonna go far, kid,” said her mentor Kenan Kraković, reflecting on years of collaboration and Hana’s extraordinary determination.
With her sights now set on Heidelberg and the next phase of her academic journey, Hana Babić stands as a powerful example of what is possible with talent, hard work, and a clear vision. The future of science is bright — and it speaks Bosnian.
