BHFF Spring Academy in Mostar: A Weekend of Connection, Learning, and Growth
From all corners of Bosnia and Herzegovina, over 50 BH Futures Foundation scholars gathered in the heart of Herzegovina—Mostar—for a memorable three-day experience of connection, learning, and personal development. The BHFF Spring Academy served as an opportunity for scholars to not only strengthen their bonds but also grow as individuals and future leaders.
Day 1: Exploring Mostar Through Team Spirit
The Academy kicked off with a vibrant energy as scholars participated in a city-wide treasure hunt—a team-building activity designed to explore the historical and cultural gems of Mostar. Divided into teams, scholars navigated through iconic landmarks, solved clues, and learned stories of the city’s past, all while fostering teamwork and communication.
Day 2: Industry Insights and Personal Growth
The second day began with an exclusive visit to Aluminij Industries, the largest aluminum producer in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Scholars were taken on a guided tour through the production facilities, where the Chief of Production explained the complex processes of aluminum manufacturing and the science behind it. This real-world exposure allowed our scholars to gain valuable insights into the industrial and engineering landscape of BiH.
Following the visit, the Academy split into two tracks. For team leaders, an Executive Leadership Meeting and Workshop was held, focusing on strategic planning and effective leadership within the Foundation.
Meanwhile, the rest of the scholars took part in a transformative workshop on Self-Confidence, facilitated by Isa Pašalić. The session focused on practical strategies for managing stress and building self-assurance in academic, professional, and personal spheres.
The evening brought an opportunity to relax, share laughs, and engage in friendly competition through a debate night. Four teams tackled diverse and thought-provoking topics, showcasing sharp critical thinking and communication skills.
Day 3: Sharing Stories and Building Together
The final day began with a powerful reflective activity where each scholar shared a meaningful life experience. Teams were then tasked with crafting a creative story inspired by these personal anecdotes—a moment that brought empathy, humor, and deep connection among participants.
Next came a dynamic Volunteering Team Workshop, where scholars worked in groups to construct a specific structure using provided materials. This hands-on challenge encouraged collaboration, creativity, and teamwork under pressure.
The closing session provided a space for feedback and reflection. Scholars openly shared what they loved about the experience and offered suggestions for future Academies, helping us continually improve and meet the needs of our vibrant community.
After three fulfilling days, our scholars packed their bags and headed home—with new friendships, deeper bonds, and lasting memories.
Looking Ahead: BHFF Turns 10 in Tuzla!
As we wrap up an unforgettable Spring Academy in Mostar, we’re already looking ahead to our next stop—Tuzla, from July 18–20. This will be a particularly special occasion, as we return to the city where BH Futures Foundation began to celebrate our 10-year anniversary. We can’t wait to continue the journey, honoring a decade of impact, community, and growth.
