Mirza Sijamić and Selma Đozić at DSC Europe 2025 in Belgrade
Alumni Mirza Sijamić and Junior Scholar Selma Đozić participated in DSC Europe 2025 in Belgrade as representatives of the Bosnia & Herzegovina Futures Foundation (BHFF).
DSC Europe is a regional conference dedicated to data science, artificial intelligence, and related technologies, bringing together researchers, engineers, and industry professionals from across Europe and beyond. The event covered a wide range of topics, including NeuroAI, spiking neural networks, autonomous driving safety, and LLM-assisted cybersecurity and business intelligence.
Throughout the conference, discussions emphasized the relationship between advanced AI systems and human decision-making. Speakers highlighted both the capabilities and current limitations of AI, particularly in areas where context, responsibility, and judgment remain essential.
NeuroAI sessions addressed challenges such as biological plasticity, neuromodulation, and meaning-making, which are not yet replicable in artificial systems. Presentations on autonomous driving focused on edge cases, system latency, and the continued need for human supervision. In cybersecurity and data analysis sessions, experts demonstrated how large language models can support automated analysis while still requiring human oversight.
By participating in DSC Europe 2025, Mirza Sijamić and Selma Đozić contributed to BHFF’s ongoing efforts to connect members of its community with international knowledge exchange and contemporary discussions in data science and artificial intelligence.
The conference provided valuable insights into current trends in AI development and reinforced the importance of responsible, human-centered approaches to emerging technologies.
