Futures Leaders Summit 2025 Empowers Bosnian Students with Global Networks

This years annual Futures Leaders Summit (FLS) will be in Hotel Hills, December 19–21 in Sarajevo. This is a major platform where Bosnian and Herzegovinian students connect with mentors and industry leaders. Organized by the BH Futures Foundation, FLS has become the largest youth-driven leadership event in BiH with over 3,500 participants to date. It brings together scientists, entrepreneurs and executives from around the world. FLS provides up-and-coming leaders the three key ingredients for success: quality education, access to technology, and leadership development. The summit’s mix of keynotes, panels and Q&As means students learn directly from global experts.
Program Tracks: Science, Engineering, Innovation, Leadership
FLS designs its agenda in topical tracks to suit diverse interests. For 2025, the themes include “Longevity through Science and Engineering”, “Professional Excellence” and “Next-Gen Worldbuilders.” Each track features hands-on sessions and international speakers. For example, the Science & Engineering track (Track 1) explores biomedical and technical innovation, while Professional Excellence (Track 2) focuses on leadership and career skills. The Next-Gen Worldbuilders track (Track 3) targets entrepreneurs and engineering leaders. By combining science, technology and leadership themes, FLS prepares students to innovate and lead in the global economy. The summit also includes company visits and an expo, so students can share CVs with employers and explore internships.
Student+ Grant Empowers Youth
A standout feature is the Student+ Grant program, which breaks down financial barriers for Bosnian and Herzegovinian students. Thanks to sponsors, in 2024 over 250 students attended FLS free of charge. Applications are open to high-schoolers, undergraduates who can receive free tickets, travel and lodging support. As the BH Futures team explains, the grant is not just about attending the conference it’s about acquiring invaluable knowledge and building meaningful connections. In fact, from 2016 through 2025 BH Futures has given away roughly 1,700 tickets to students, often covering transport and hotel costs. Donors can even “gift” a ticket: contributions go into the Student+ fund so that each year dozens more BiH students can unlock opportunities otherwise out of reach.
The impact is clear: many local students gain mentorship and global exposure they could not get at home. Alumni say FLS has been a game-changer – one attendee recalled that FLS allowed her to ask top experts questions and emerge more determined than ever to succeed. Another praised the fantastic atmosphere, recommending FLS for students and young people eager to gain knowledge and expand their horizons. By uniting Bosnian and Herzegovinian youth with diaspora professionals and international entrepreneurs, FLS creates a network of mentors and peers that continues beyond the three-day event.
A Catalyst for Leadership in BiH
Bosnia & Herzegovina Futures Foundation’s mission is to empower youth through education, technology access and “development of world class leadership skills. FLS exemplifies this by giving students hands-on leadership opportunities: panel moderation, startup pitches, and even a Vera Šnajder Award ceremony honoring young female innovators. Each year students return with new contacts across Europe and beyond, bridging BiH to the global community. With nearly 7oo attendees expected in 2025, the Futures Leaders Summit is steadily transforming ambitious BiH students into the nation’s next generation of leaders.
