Tečnogovorim njemački i engleski.

Povezanost nauke i umjetnosti.

“My study program covers all design steps - from programming to the final product.”

At the beginning of the interview for “Student”, Vildana Hrnjić, a graduate student at the Department for Graphical Engineering at the Faculty of Technology in Banja Luka, says that she is a curious person and that the higher education institution she is attending gives her a direct insight into the “background”of things she uses and sees in everyday life. She states that printed products such as books, brochures, posters, billboards, food packaging or other products that we meet on a daily basis have their own process of creation. “My study program covers all design steps - from programing to the final product. The biggest benefits are reflected in a wide range of possible employment areas - from design, printing shops to marketing agencies and 3D design”, remarks Hrnjić. One of her biggest passions is painting and so far she has had several exhibitions in Prijedor and Banja Luka. She has drawn illustrations for books even before her studies, and her creativity has proven to be an advantage for the Faculty of Technology, where she has also begun with the illustration of art posters. “Throughout this study program I realized how much aesthetics depends on the application of the product. This connection between art and science was crucial to the choice of this faculty. Beside my studies and art, I love learning foreign languages and I fluently speak German and English. I’m interested in volunteering and I like to travel”, says Hrnjić.

Bond between science and art

When asked whether there is a particular area of tudy that interests her, Hrnjić states that the connection between science and art at the Faculty of Technology and the wide range of professions involved in this field attracted her the most and led to choosing Graphic Engineering. “Due to the large number of my interests, I liked the flexibility and energy within this field. Of course, every year I had courses that I loved more, and ones that I loved less. However, now at the end of my studies and through internships, I realize that I have a tendency towards electronic and 3D design. 3D design and printing are very popular topics now days and this is the future in my opinion, though, printed products can not completely disappear (at least not packaging). Currently, I am volunteering for a LunarVis project in Germany. Even though this project is at the beginning, this cooperation was very instructive for me so far. I worked on several 3D models of satellites, besides working on the design of the basic logo and the promo-materials”, remarks Hrnjić. Additionally, she is doing an internship in Banja Luka, in a company making websites and android applications. When it comes to the teaching staff at the Faculty of Technology, there are few professors Hrnjic would like to point out because of their dynamic and interactive lectures, as well as their willingness to cooperate with students. Those are Dr. Vladimir Risojevic (course Multimedia), Professor Jelena Manojlović (course Visual Communication) and Professor Drago Vejnović (course Photography).

Recognizing the effort

“I personally admire the most lecturers who can recognize someone’s effort during the semester, and one of my favorite statements from prof. Vejnović is: You do not have to come to my lectures for points. I already know your grades. Considering that, I would also like to point out Dr. Mladen Stančić, who has taught few technical courses and the Professor of Organic Chemistry, Mr. Branka Rodić Grabovac, who also saw the potential in me and helped me on several occasions”, remarks Hrnjić. As a recipient of the BH Future Foundation scholarship, she feels grateful and privileged. “One of my best friends saw the call for this scholarship and he sent it to me with the note: This is just for you. I read the content of the call and quite recognized myself in the description of the desired student, so I decided to apply. Taking in consideration all my interests, seminars, volunteering and some difficulties I had in my life, I believed I would get a scholarship, although I (at first) thought that more scholarships are planned, not only three”, concludes Hrnjić.
