Mechanical Engineers of University of Zenica Awarded for PiProjector

A team of mechanical engineers from the University of Zenica are winners of the IEEE/YEP Innovation Hackathon held in Sarajevo from December 1st to 4th with their innovation named "PiProjector". The students and their mentor received several awards including 1,000 BAM, certficates and each team member also received the latest Samsung Galaxy tablets thanks to the "Bosnia & Herzegovina Futures Foundation". The foundation was an official partner of the IEEE Student & Young Professionals Congress. The awards were presented by the founder and chair of the foundation Prof. dr. Edhem (Eddie) Custovic. The foundation, along with partners IEEE and the Youth Employment Project will now commence with directly assisting the team in commercialising their innovation and creating a start-up. 

The "PiProjector" is designed as a slick, low cost and portable solution for teaching facilities/rooms which have projectors but no computer/laptop to drive the display. Furthermore, the device also contains a compact camera which can be extended and used to project in real time writing on paper. PiPro's functionality is based on the Raspberry Pi micro-computer and features a 7 inch touch screen, raspberry pi camera, WiFi keyboard with a touchpad and 15600 mAh battery. The entire sleek casing was designed and manufactured  using 3D printing technolgy at the University of Zenica.  

The students in the team include Harun Hrustić, Bošnjak Armin, Kenan Beganović, Ajla Divoš, Anida Ibrahimagić, Lejla Međić, Nizama Perenda i Ramiz Mujčinović created a solution which a judging panel of 9 decided was the most feasible and most prospective innovation amongst 13 other teams. The teams competing were represented engineering, information technology and business faculties and the judging panel was made up of individuals from Australia, UK, USA, Canada and BIH.

The winning team was supervised and mentored by Denis Spahic, coordinator of the IDEALab, Faculty of Mechanical Engineering. University of Zenica.

Ekipa Mašinskog fakulteta Univerziteta u Zenici pobjednik je YEP/IEEE Innovation Hackathona Sarajevo 2016 godine sa inovacijom u oblasti obrazovanja – „PiProjector“. Grupa studenta i njihov mentor su primili 1,000 KM nagradu, certifikate i svaki clan ekipe je takodjer dobio najnoviji Samsung tablet kao nagradu za svoj uspjeh zahvaljujuci "Bosnia & Herzegovina Futures Foundation". Fondacija je partner kongresu IEEE Student and Young Professionals koji je odrzan u Sarajevu od 1-4 Decembra. Nagrade je dodjelio predsjednik i osnivac fondacije Prof. dr. Edhem (Eddie) Custovic. Fondacija, uz partnerstvo IEEE, i Youth Employment Project, ce podrzati ekipu iz Zenice da realizuje svoj projekat u uspjesni biznis. 

Studenti Univerziteta u Zenici, Harun HrustićBošnjak ArminKenan BeganovićAjla Divoš, Anida IbrahimagićLejla MeđićNizama Perenda i Ramiz Mujčinović, ponudili su rješenje koje je devetočlani žiri ocijenio najboljom i najperspektivnijom inovacijom u konkurenciji 13 timova sa 7 elektrotehničkih, IT, mašinskih i ekonomskih fakulteta iz čitave BiH. Žiri su činili stručnjaci iz Australije, Kanade, USA, Velike Britanije i BiH.

Pobjednički tim radio je uz podršku mentora Mr.sc. Denisa Spahića, Višeg asistenta i koordinatora iDEALab centra Mašinskog fakulteta Univerziteta u Zenici.

PiProjector je uređaju koji je namijenjen učionicama koje posjeduju projektor, a nemaju laptop ili računar sa kojeg bi se upravljalo prezentacijama. Dodatno, PiPro posjeduje i kamera projektor koji omogućava korisnicima ovog uređaja da rukopis ili crtež sa papira prenesu na platno u realnom vremenu. PiPro je baziran na Raspberry Pi mikro računaru, a posjeduje i 7” ekranu na dodir, Raspberry Pi kameru, WiFi tastaturu sa touchpad-om te autonomnu bateriju od 15600 mAh. Kompletno kućište izrađeno je tehnologijom 3D printanja.
