Our alumna Azra Velić was selected as the most successful student of the Department of Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering at International Burch University. Azra became our scholar in September 2020 and since then she was highly active in numerous areas of our foundation. We decided to have a chat to her and find out more about her ambitions.

1. Can you tell us why you chose engineering?

I chose to pursue electrical engineering career because I aimed to become part of the force that transforms the world through technology, focusing on autonomous driving and robotics.

2. Volunteering is a big part of your life, tell us about your experiences.

I stated with volunteering activities in primary school as the president of the student council where we organised bazaars to provide financial support to students in need. When I realised that I can be a valuable member of the society I joined BHFF and focused on engaging Bosnian diaspora into mentorship and donor programs through the role of the an Ambassadors team lead. However, favorite project I worked on with BHFF is the Futures Automotive Conference where we brought industry leaders from Audi, Rimac and Porsche to Sarajevo to teach and inspire our students. The conference helped not only me, but also numerous students that have reached out to me sharing positive impressions and connections made at the coference.

3. A valuable lesson you've learned in your time with BHFF?

If I could chose a single lesson learned it would be that if you help and support others, the same will come to you in the most unexpected ways!

4. You spent some time in Germany?

I have completed the internship at ZF Group in Germany -the global leader supplying advanced mobility products and systems for passenger cars, commercial vehicles and industrial technology, department for the Autonomous driving software where I worked on the projects regarding the next generation autonomous shuttles.

6. A couple of tips for young people who should apply for the BHFF scholarship and are hesitating?

The advice to all students hesitating to apply for the BHFF scholarship would be to apply and take the advantage of being surrounded by the likeminded, smart, talented, inspiring students and mentors who can change the direction of your professional and personal life.
